Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Founder Chancellor, Adamas University and Chairman of the RICE Group, India

Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Founder Chancellor of Adamas University and Chairman of the RICE Group, is widely regarded as one of Eastern India’s most impactful education leaders. His journey started back in 1985, when he founded RICE Education with the simple dream of helping young people secure government jobs. Over the years, this initiative transformed the landscape of competitive exam coaching in West Bengal and supported lakhs of aspirants in achieving their goals. Driven by a vision to create holistic learning environments, he went on to establish Adamas International School and Adamas World School, pioneering inclusive, student-centred, and day-boarding education models. In 2014, he brought his larger dream to life with the creation of Adamas University—now a 120-acre, NAAC ‘A’ accredited institution known for its global outlook, interdisciplinary approach, and strong industry partnerships. With a forward-looking vision, Prof. Ray also established Adamas Technology Consulting Pvt. Ltd., an ISO and CMMI-certified organisation that spearheads digital transformation in education. The company has expanded its footprint in India across Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata, and internationally in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, London, and San Francisco. His commitment to social responsibility led him to establish the Sachis Kiron Roy Memorial Trust and the Samit Ray Foundation, both dedicated to empowering underprivileged and deserving students. Honoured internationally for his contributions, Prof. Ray continues to inspire and shape the future of education with his unwavering passion, vision, and leadership. The distinguishing virtue of the University lies in its dedicated pursuit of research excellence across all disciplines, nurtured by a deeply embedded culture of collaboration. Prof. Ray envisions the evolution of a truly research-centric institution, committed to establishing state-of-the-art facilities and distinguished Centres of Excellence that will shape the frontiers of knowledge. Among these, the Rekhi Centre of Excellence stands as a cherished dream of the University— conceived to advance research, teaching, and the promotion of the science of happiness and well- being, with the noble purpose of enriching society at large

Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Singh Rekhi, Founder Rekhi Foundation, USA

Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Singh Rekhi is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He later pursued an MBA at California State University, Sacramento, and has since undertaken advanced academic and professional training. He is the founder of R Systems Group, a global software and services company. In 2016, Dr Rekhi and his wife Harpreet Kaur Rekhi founded the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness (also referred to as the “REKHI Foundation” in some contexts). The foundation’s core goal is to advance what they term the “Science of Happiness and Positive Psychology”—through establishment of dedicated centres in universities, teaching courses on happiness, conducting research via so-called “MindLabs”, organizing community workshops, and embedding well-being into institutional culture. He serves as Honorary Chairman of the Rekhi Center of Excellence for the Science of Happiness at IIT Kharagpur. The Foundation has helped establish Happiness Centres (or “Centres of Excellence”) in over 50 universities across 6 countries. For example, an MoU with Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee to establish a Centre of Science of Happiness, including a practical Mind Lab component. At Delhi University, the Foundation launched a “Science of Happiness” course as part of the curriculum in collaboration. Dr Rekhi views happiness not as mere emotion, but as a state of cognitive and psychological well-being that can be studied, cultivated and taught.

Dr. Rekhi’s key message is captured succinctly:

“Happy people are more successful than the other way around.”
